Alientique Release

This is my first time writting a devlog, so bear with me xP I like rambling about my process!

I'm really proud of how this came out for a game that was made alone in less than 3 days! As usual, I programmed during the first day, made all art on the second day, and used the last day to add minor changes (such as the timed mode and endless mode). I had plenty of sleep, and even had some leisure time inbetween production.

I had time to test, and I couldn't find any bugs, but please let me know if you find any! In any case, here are some things I'm aware of, and/or changes that I didn't have time to make:

  • The sound effects aren't muted when you mute the music. This was a personal choice :P
  • I'm not pleased with the UI! But I couldn't do much better than this. Would appreciate feedback from an experienced UI designer.
  • I wanted to make a "hard" mode, where the timer was shorter (5 instead of 10 seconds). But all people that played seemed to have trouble with the normal mode already lol. I even coded an easier version where the gears had visual feedback when put in the correct position, but it made the game too easy in my opinion.
  • The back button is different in the credits screen and in the difficulty screen... I know. It's pissing me off, but I didn't have time to change the size of the buttons. Sighs.
  • Also, small things: I wanted to change the color of the mood-meter, but Construct didn't allow me to use frames in a 9-patch. Oh well. I was too lazy to implement that (AKA I chose to prioritize other features).
  • If I continue working on this game, I reeeally want to change the way the gears align. I wanna set the way they control each other to random, and also display that connection better visually.

Aaand that's it! If you read all this, thank you so much lol. Making this game made me really, really happy and proud of my progress as a game developer. I would still LOVE to hear your feedback, positive or constructive! Thank you again for your time :-]
