Bound to the Vessel
My first attempt at a roguelite as part of a small GameJam, inspired by Cult of the Lamb, Magic Cat Academy, and Gideon the Ninth. The theme was "Body vs Soul", and I decided to approach the idea through a necromancer who guides souls in vessels (bodies) which decay over time.
To be honest, I'm not happy with the result. I struggled a lot to get my idea working in Construct, which is the engine I'm most familiar with, so it was pretty frustrating. I had to reduce the scope a lot, and ended up with an unsatisfying result. Lots of missing mechanics, suboptimal collisions, and few animations. I just tried to finish this with a complete gameplay loop.
However, I learned a few things about my own game making abilities, my personal preferences when working on games, and I'm happy to finally have tried "random room generation" (even if it's not great). I'm proud of myself for going through with it instead of giving up midway as well.
